What We Fix

Common Stove Problems

Select what's happening below for a plain explanation of the likely cause.

Sparks But Never Catches

You hear steady clicking or see sparking at the burner, but the gas itself never actually lights, sometimes with a faint gas smell that clears once you let go of the knob. A frequent cause is an igniter that's drifted a bit out of its correct position, or an orifice clogged enough to stop the spark reaching the gas stream at all. We clean and realign the igniter first, since that resolves the majority of cases before ever touching the gas valve.

Burner Locked At Maximum

Regardless of where you turn the dial, one burner just keeps blasting at full output, even turned down or fully off. This usually traces to an infinite switch stuck for that particular burner, rather than any actual problem with the coil or element underneath. We confirm the switch is genuinely at fault under real load before replacing it, since the element underneath is almost always still perfectly fine.

Igniter Won't Stop Clicking

A rapid, repetitive clicking continues on without the burner ever actually catching a flame, sometimes lasting well over a minute before you give up. Moisture or accumulated grime inside the igniter module is the common reason, preventing it from delivering a clean, reliable spark. We clean the module thoroughly and test it before considering replacement.

One Element Never Warms Up

A single burner remains stone cold to the touch while every other one on the cooktop heats up completely normally. An internal break somewhere inside that specific coil is the typical explanation, visible once it's removed and examined closely under proper light. We simply swap it directly rather than testing endlessly, since a broken coil element genuinely can't be repaired in place.

Dial Spins Without Catching

The knob turns freely without ever landing solidly on one of the marked settings, no resistance or click at any point. Most often a detent spring has worn out inside the knob itself, with nothing wrong with the burner or gas valve beneath it. It's typically one of the more affordable stove repairs we handle.

Flame Burns Yellow, Not Blue

The flame shows yellow instead of the expected steady blue, or burns unevenly around the ring rather than in a clean, consistent circle. A burner port that's partly clogged is often restricting airflow right there, worth a close look before assuming something bigger is wrong. We clear the ports and retest the flame before recommending a full burner assembly replacement.

Still Not Sure What's Wrong?

Skip the guesswork, one visit is usually enough to sort it out for good.

Error Codes

What That Code On The Display Means

Codes vary by brand, but these patterns show up across most major stove and range manufacturers.

CodeWhat It Usually Points To
E1A temperature sensor on an induction or electric model is misreading.
E2The unit's overheating protection has been tripped and shut things down.
E3A voltage irregularity has been detected coming into the unit.
E6A communication error between the control board and the panel.
FA burner or heating element circuit fault has been detected.
PFA power interruption was detected, usually clears after a reset.

Exact codes differ between manufacturers, so treat this as a general guide, not a replacement for your model's manual. If a code keeps returning after a power reset, book a visit and we'll read it properly.

Quick Checks First

Rule These Out Before Booking

A handful of stove complaints trace back to something quick you can verify yourself, safely and without any tools.

Clean around the burner ports. Food debris and spills can clog the small holes gas flows through. A soft brush can clear light buildup safely without tools.

Check the knob clicks into position. Make sure the dial is actually landing on a marked setting rather than sitting loosely between two of them.

Confirm gas or power supply. For gas stoves, check the shut-off valve is fully open. For electric models, confirm the breaker hasn't tripped.

Make sure grates sit correctly. On gas stoves, a grate sitting slightly off can interfere with the igniter sensing the burner properly.

Wipe down the igniter area. Grease buildup right at the igniter tip can weaken the spark noticeably. A dry cloth wipe often helps immediately.

Check for a tripped breaker. For electric stoves, especially after a storm, confirm the dedicated breaker is fully switched on.

Still acting up after trying these? Something deeper is probably going on. Get a technician out and we'll take it from there.

Stove Repairs, Straight From Frisco

What customers said after we sorted out their stove.

One burner sparked away for what felt like forever without ever catching a flame, right as we started dinner for company. The igniter had shifted position slightly, straightened it out and it caught on the very first attempt afterward.

Anselm P.

The back right coil stayed completely cold no matter how many minutes we let it run. Found a break inside the element, replaced it and heat is even across the whole burner now.

Xiomara T.

A single burner insisted on running full blast regardless of wherever we set the dial. Switch controlling that burner had jammed, fixed it right there during the same visit.

Cormac W.

Kept us informed about the igniter issue the entire time he was working on it. Just one star off since the part had to be specially ordered and took an extra day.

Bellamy R.

Knob spun freely without ever landing on a marked setting, had been getting worse for weeks. Spring inside had completely worn out, quick and inexpensive fix once diagnosed.

Wilhelmina K.

Noticed one burner burning a rough yellow color instead of the usual clean blue ring. Port was partially blocked, cleared it thoroughly and it burns correctly now.
