Fridge Repair Frisco

A fridge running warm, humming louder than it used to, or leaving a puddle behind, usually comes down to one part worth finding, not a whole new unit.

What We Fix

Common Fridge Problems

Tap a symptom to see what's usually behind it, and how we sort it out.

Ice Maker Gone Quiet

Days go by and the bin stays completely empty, pressing the dispenser paddle does nothing at all. This almost always traces back to the water supply line feeding the ice maker, frozen solid somewhere between the wall connection and the fridge itself, cutting off flow before it ever reaches the tray. Cold snaps tend to bring this one on, since that line often runs closer to an exterior wall than people expect. We pinpoint the exact freeze point, clear it out, and run a test cycle to confirm ice is actually forming again before we head out.

Freezing Food That Shouldn't Freeze

Lettuce turns to ice near the back wall, or a drink pulled from the top shelf comes out half frozen, even though nobody touched the dial. The culprit is usually a temperature probe feeding inaccurate numbers to the control board, or a cold-air damper that's not closing all the way, so the fridge convinces itself it needs to work harder than it really does. We test the probe and the damper as two separate suspects rather than assuming, since swapping the wrong part fixes nothing.

Running Warmer Than It Should

Groceries spoil a day or two ahead of schedule, and milk starts smelling slightly off well before its date. More often than not an internal air vent has been partly blocked by something stored too close, or the compressor is simply losing efficiency after years of continuous duty. We walk the entire cooling path step by step instead of jumping to conclusions, since a tired compressor and a blocked vent produce nearly identical symptoms from the outside.

A Rattle Or Hum You Haven't Heard Before

It comes on gradually and gets a little louder every week until you can't ignore it anymore. The evaporator fan wearing down internally is the usual suspect here, since the bearings inside it wear unevenly over years of constant spinning. Occasionally it's simpler than that, the unit's just tilted slightly on the floor and something inside is vibrating against a panel. We isolate the source before opening anything up.

Water Collecting Near The Base

A small puddle shows up on the kitchen floor with no obvious cause, sometimes only after a few days of humid weather. Nearly always a drain line tucked behind the back interior panel has frozen shut or collected enough debris to back up. Once it backs up far enough, water has nowhere to go but out onto your floor. We clear the full length of the line, not just the visible end, so it doesn't clog again in a month.

A Motor That Never Seems To Rest

It runs around the clock and the side panel feels noticeably warm when you touch it, even overnight when nothing's been opened. Usually dust has built up thick enough on the condenser coils underneath or behind the unit to choke off proper airflow, forcing the compressor to work harder and longer to hit the same temperature. It's a simple fix once we're in there, and it typically brings the noise and the energy use back down together.

Still Not Sure What's Wrong?

Rather have it checked properly than guess, we usually wrap it up in one trip.

Error Codes

What That Code On The Display Means

Codes vary by brand, but these letter combinations show up often enough across manufacturers that they're worth knowing before you call.

CodeWhat It Usually Points To
E1 / E2A temperature sensor in the fridge or freezer compartment isn't reading correctly.
FFFreezer's been running warmer than it should for a couple hours straight.
dE / EdThe defrost cycle hasn't completed properly, or hasn't run in several days.
SY EFThe evaporator fan isn't spinning the way the control board expects it to.
CIThe ice maker isn't drawing the current it should, or isn't producing ice.
PF / POA power interruption was detected, usually harmless and clears after a reset.

Exact codes differ between manufacturers, so treat this as a general guide, not a replacement for your model's manual. If a code keeps returning after a power reset, book a visit and we'll read it properly.

Quick Checks First

Rule These Out Before Booking

A handful of common fridge complaints trace back to something quick you can verify yourself, safely and without any tools.

Peek at the thermostat setting. Kids or grocery bags can nudge the dial without anyone noticing. Fridge should read roughly 37 to 40 degrees, freezer near zero.

Make room around the vents. Jars and containers stacked right up against the interior vents choke off airflow. Pull anything tall a couple inches back from them.

Feel around the door edge. Run your fingers along the rubber gasket while the door's shut. A soft or torn spot means cold air is escaping there.

Verify the outlet is live. Plug a phone charger into the same outlet to rule out a tripped breaker or a dead circuit before assuming it's the fridge.

Pull it slightly from the wall. Fridges shoved flush against cabinetry can't vent heat properly. A few inches of clearance on the back makes a real difference.

Set a level on top. Even a slight lean can cause extra noise or uneven cooling. A phone's built-in level app can check this in seconds.

Still acting up after trying these? Something deeper is probably going on. Get a technician out and we'll take it from there.

Fridge Calls, From Around Frisco

What customers said after we sorted out their fridge.

Freezer had turned into a solid block of frost pressed against the back panel, noticed it just days after scraping it down ourselves. The defrost heater had quit entirely, got a replacement in and the ice buildup hasn't returned.

Marisol Q.

Half the fridge ran noticeably colder than the other half, only realized it once fruit on the warmer side began softening early. A damper inside had gotten stuck partway shut, freed it up and the temperature levels out now.

Barnaby H.

Broke down exactly what was wrong with our ice maker before he touched a single screw. Four stars simply because the replacement valve had to come from the manufacturer.

Genevra T.

A thin layer of water kept collecting under the crisper bins day after day, regardless of how often we cleaned it up. Found a fully blocked drain path, cleared it out completely and it's stayed dry for weeks.

Alistair D.

That rattling sound had been slowly getting worse for almost a month before we finally gave in and called. A cracked fan blade inside was the culprit, swapped it and the fridge runs dead silent now.

Philomena K.

You could feel real heat radiating off the side of the unit and the motor practically never shut off. Condenser coils underneath were caked with dust, cleaned them off completely and the compressor cycles like it should now.

Cornelius V.
